Mysti-skies is a family passion and would not be possible without each other. We also have horses & cats so I thought this page would be a good way of introducing us all.

Myself

What can I say about myself?

I love what I do.  German Shepherds are my passion and as I am frequently reminded by my husband my life.

I could not imagine myself doing anything different now and feel very lucky to be able to spend my life surrounded by our animals.

I have qualifications in a number of human fields including: psychology, sociology and aromatherapy.  But I enjoy more my qualifications with animals which include: Small animal care and management, horse care and management and Zoopharmacognosy working with aromatic medicine.

John

John is my husband & both myself and the dogs would be lost without him.  He takes care of all the maintenance and building required and does all the driving  around to vets, training and other visits.

Most of all he works with me and the dogs, I think he gave up a while ago thinking he was first and the dogs came second and tells everyone how the animals get fed better than him.  He never moans when I spend all our money on the dogs instead of holidays and nights out and encourages all my plans and dreams.

Roxanne

Roxanne no longer lives with us but still comes every time she has a day off to be around the dogs.  Roxanne turns everything into a crisis a small cut is a leg amputation  I am sure you an imagine the rest.  But she works very hard and puts a lot of time and effort into the dogs.  She loves being around the puppies and spends a lot of time with them playing, grooming and just general handling.

She would like to start her own breeding program & has 2 girls of her own, but loves to be around any of the dogs as long as she can get a cuddle.

Kirstie

What can I say about Kirstie?  Everything is an effort, she constantly needs a kick up the bottom to get her motivated.  But in a crisis she is as cool as a cucumber and she has a special affinity with all the animals.  They all love her what ever species they are, although she prefers the horses from the ground rather than on their backs.

All the dogs go daft round Kirstie and most of them will lie on top of her on their backs for a cuddle

Katrina

Katrina is our lady she hates dirt, can't cut up the raw meat,  but again works very hard here.

Trina is also a big lover of horses a neat and very confident rider

Trina is a good cook for both humans and animals.  She makes treats for dogs, cats and horses which go down very well here. She is currently setting up her own business and will soon be selling them.

Trina is our main help besides me & John now as the kids have got older & Karissa is at school & we would certainly be lost without her.

Brett

Brett is our muscle he carries all the heavy things for us and helps his dad do all the maintenance and repairs.  Although typical teenager a lot of it under protest.

He loves being around the animals and is a real softy when he thinks nobody is watching him, otherwise it would damage his street cred.

Although Brett no longer lives here with us he has moved back to Dorset he often comes up for a weekend or week long visit with his friends so we have a houseful of teenagers and lots of extra hands on deck to do the big maintenance jobs that require more than John.

Karissa

Karissa is our spoilt baby of the family.

She loves all the animals and we often lose her when we have puppies because she has gone in with the babies and fell asleep, so you find Karissa asleep with all the puppies asleep on top of her.

Her latest passion is feeding the wild birds to see how many different species she can encourage to feed but her biggest passion is the horses she spends lots of time just grooming & interacting with the horses.

Karissa is a big help here at weekends & school holidays she mucks in with the rest of us to get all the jobs done.

Genna

Genna is a Morgan X and was given to me as a gift from a lady who became a friend through the Morgan's.

She is 13 years old and a real sweety, although she can be quite stubborn when she wants.  She is also an alpha mare and keeps all the others in check.

She is ridden by Trina mostly and is just coming back into work after having a foal and a couple of years off

Banoffee

Noffers is a New Forest Pony.

She is 8 years old and ridden by Karissa.  she has a very laid back nature and will let you do anything, great with kids because she is so gentle.

We have had her since she was 6 months old and she has always taken everything in her stride and accepted anything new quite happily.

She had a little colt 2 years ago who was gorgeous and  she was a very good mommy.

Lyric

Lyric is a New Forest Pony, affectionately known as the Thelwell pony here.

He is 12 years old and a typical pony, bossy, cocky and stubborn, but with a very affectionate side too.  He is just one of those boys that even when he is being really naughty you cant help but love him.

We all ride him, he is not a novice ride but since he is always so fat he is not capable of doing anything drastic.

Tim

Tim is a New Forest X and our old man.

He is 27 years old but still as fit as a fiddle, he has done it all and knows all the tricks to get out of doing something he doesn't want to. But is a little gem on lead rein.

He was originally brought for Katrina but she got too big for him so Karissa then took over.  He is now enjoying retirement as he has earned it and enjoys nothing better than rolling in a nice muddy patch so that he looks bay instead of grey.

Vision

Vision is a pure bred Morgan.

She is 4 years old and a very dainty sweet natured little girl.

She is out of the most gorgeous mare and has inherited her good looks. She also knows it and struts her stuff as if saying look at me I am the important one.

Roxanne is just starting to work her lightly and introduce her to the wonders of life.

Electra

Electra is a pure bred Morgan

She is 3 years old and right diva.

Electra is our newest edition, Roxanne is planning to show her and hopefully breed her at a later date.

She really is a diva and has to be centre of attention at all times, the perfect temperament for a show horse.

Bubble

Bubble is one of a pair of feral cats we own (or should I say own us)

Although she started off feral she has now decided she quite likes being cuddled and kissed and will get on your lap for a fuss.

She is called bubbles cause she blows bubbles from her mouth when she's contented and purring.

Her best friend besides her brother is Bear she will curl up and go to sleep on his back,  she will often re-arrange his coat with her claws to make it comfy and you can see Bear wincing as she digs too deep.

Squeak

Squeak is Bubbles brother. Unlike her he has not come round to the joys of cuddles.  Although he will stay quite close he will not get close enough for a fuss and will run if you approach him.

We called him Squeak as he cant meow he just makes a funny squeak noise.

Dinx

Dinx is a Persian X Siamese with most of the traits of the latter including the ears.

She joined us when she was about 5 weeks old & took over as soon as she walked in, it took her all of five minutes to train the dogs to her liking.  She is very affectionate when she wants to be but usually on her terms only.    She is old before her time and likes nothing better than sleeping all day she is not interested in playing & gets very stressy with the other cats if they try to interact with her.

Boudicia

Boudicia is a Selkirk Rex with a straight coat.

Bo Bo as she is affectionately known by us was given to Katrina from a friend of ours.  She bred her and kept her back as she was the tiny kitty in the litter but as you can see she has grown into a pretty little thing full of fun & mischief.

Bo Bo settled in very quickly again training the dogs to her liking and often uses them as her pillow & Zeeker grooms her as & when it is demanded by Bo Bo.  She has a character like no other cat I have ever known she is so laid back most of the time movement is impossible but then when in playful mode she becomes a different cat.

Bo Bo gets on with all the animals but we have to be careful as she sees no danger in anything & often visits the horses with us which is not a good idea with Tim & Lyric as neither like cats.

Cleopatra

Cleo belongs to Karissa and follows her everywhere.  She is a cheeky little madam who came in and immediately took over much to the disgust of Dinx.

She is very affectionate and very vocal too we usually know where she is.  She like Bo Bo seems to have no fear of any of the dogs or horses or anything else for that matter.  She was quite indignant when Shekha arrived but seems to be happy now & they often share a bed or play together.

She is not a very big cat but has a very big tummy with a very large appetite to go with it,  sometimes she looks like she will explode & we wonder how she fits it all in such a small body.

Shikha

Shikha is a maine-coon cross & was my Christmas present off the girls as they know how much I liked maine-coons, may have something to do with the fact they are big, fat & hairy.

She immediately made herself at home & like Bo Bo seems to have more dog like qualities than cat & constantly makes us giggle.

She made friends very quickly with Bo Bo & Cleo but Dinx is still very stand offish.

Harri

Harry was returned to us by his owner when he became too ill to look after him any longer.  Unfortunately due to his illness Harry had not been out of the house for about 2 years so has found the move and new things very traumatic & scary.

He is a lovely boy but it has taken some considerable work to gain his trust & get him to a playful, happy Harri which he is now becoming.

However he still needs work as is very mistrusting of strangers, hates being brushed & does not mix well with other dogs, so until the time we feel he is ready to be re-homed or the right person enquires he will remain with us here.

Button

Button is a 9 year old short legged Jack Russell

She is a typical Jack rat full of attitude and vocal but with a sweet side too.  She has had 3 litters for Kirstie & 4 of the puppies have gone on to work as therapy dogs with children & adults.  She has a lively disposition and loves people but a bit of a Rottweiler in Jack Russell clothing when it comes to other dogs.

Zippo

Zippo is a 7 year old long legged Jack Russell

What can I say about Zippo, he is totally mad has an obsession with balls and squeeky toys and has an abundance of energy.  He is really sweet with people and female dogs but thinks he is Rambo with male dogs.

Both Button & Zippo belong to Kirstie, I am not sure where I went wrong as neither of them look or act anything like a German Shepherd.
